Presentation “How to Enter Your Work in a Local Photography Show” by Terri Peterson and Dan Hyde

We plan to discuss why it is important for all photographers to enter photo shows. We will give practical advice on how to select photos to enter in a show. What post processing might be needed? We will discuss details on printing, matting, framing, and hanging. We will stress the importance of reading the photo show’s rules and following them. Our goal is to prepare you so you can enter several of your photos in the Members-Only Art/Photo Show coming up and to enter photos in the Lewisburg Arts Festival’s Annual Photography Show in April. To motivate you to enter the Members-Only Art/Photo Show (drop off date is January 31), the Photo Club is sponsoring cash prizes for “Best Photo” and “Best Photo from a person who has never entered a photo show.” Terri and Dan will be the judges.

After Terri and Dan’s presentation, we will have a short break for snacks and conversation. After the break, we will view the photos submitted for the Photo Quest. For this month’s Photo Quest, we are looking for “Signs of the Holidays.” Many of us took photos during the holiday celebration, select one or two that you wish to share with the group. If you wish to participate in the Photo Quest, please submit one or two jpeg “Signs of the Holidays” photos by 5 pm Tuesday January 21, 2020.

For February’s challenge, we want to encourage everyone to grab their cameras and shoot new photos for the challenge. Therefore, we purposely selected a Photo Quest theme which you probably don’t have in your photo archives. The theme is “Taking the Leap” in honor of 2020 being a Leap Year and February having an extra day.
