Some flowers at The Arboretum at Penn State

April 22, 2018

This beautiful sunny afternoon Mary Jane and I visited The Arboretum at Penn State.  Though it sounds like a place for trees, The Arboretum has many formal gardens including a delightful Children’s Garden.  The earlier flowers such as the Daffodils (pictured) and Pansies were blooming.  The tulips were up but not blooming yet. I would estimate the best time for the tulips will be May 15th or so.

If you have never been to The Arboretum at Penn State, I highly recommend it.  The drive from Lewisburg is about 70 miles one way.  One takes I 80 west to I 99 and exits at Exit 74 for Beaver Stadium.  One is now on East Park Avenue.  Stay on East Park Avenue and drive by Beaver Stadium.  Then turn right onto Bigler Road.  The parking lot is a short drive down Bilger Road.  Parking is free BUT on weekdays you need to pick up a free parking pass from the office in the Overlook Pavilion.   Their website is at https://arboretum.psu.edu/visit/visitor-information/

I recommend that you wait until middle of May to go when more will be blooming.

Take your camera and enjoy!
